Traffic Studies
Sonoma County’s wine tourism industry has attracted an increasing number of visitors resulting in significantly higher levels of vehicle travel along rural County roads, especially in the three areas of local concentration:
- Dry Creek Valley
- Westside Road
- Sonoma Valley
To address capacity and safety issues related to the increased traffic volumes, the County of Sonoma retained GHD to conduct the following traffic studies:
- Dry Creek Valley & Westside Road Capacity Threshold Study (PDF: 29 MB)
- Sonoma Valley Capacity Threshold Study (PDF: 13.3 MB)
- Background Conditions Report (PDF: 5.1 MB)
The studies were conducted to compare and understand the seasonal transportation baseline conditions and potential winery-related impacts in the Dry Creek Valley and Sonoma Valley circulation networks. The findings and recommendations are summarized in each Capacity Threshold Study. In addition, the Background Conditions Report established the baseline transportation conditions.
The appendices for the studies are available to view on-file at Permit Sonoma's
Permit Center.
