Permit Sonoma announces cannabis program update scoping meeting
SANTA ROSA, CA | March 01, 2023
Permit Sonoma will host a Comprehensive Cannabis Program Update meeting via Zoom on March 8 to solicit feedback on the scope of the proposed environmental review for the County of Sonoma’s planned cannabis program update. The Comprehensive Cannabis Program Update Environmental Impact Report will evaluate the impacts of policy proposals that could guide the future regulation of Sonoma County’s cannabis industry including its cultivation permitting process.
If approved, the cannabis program update could result in a series of zoning changes that may retain, replace, expand on or eliminate existing provisions of the current cannabis ordinance.
The primary goals of the cannabis program update are to consider cannabis land uses within unincorporated areas of the county, further enhance neighborhood compatibility and environmental protections. The analysis could result in proposals to expand, restrict, or eliminate cannabis land uses - and streamline the cannabis permitting process.
The scoping meeting will be held on Zoom on March 8 at 6 p.m. The meeting will begin with a presentation on elements of the Comprehensive Cannabis Program Update, the environmental impact report, the broader California Environmental Quality Act process to come, and an opportunity to provide comments on the scope of the EIR.
Written comments may also be submitted until March 23 at 5 p.m. via email to cannabis@sonoma-county.org or by regular mail to Permit Sonoma, Attn: Crystal Acker, 2550 Ventura Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
For questions regarding the Environmental Impact Report or the scoping meeting, please contact Crystal Acker at (707) 565-8357 or via email at cannabis@sonoma-county.org.
