Sonoma County launches Green Halo construction waste management plan and recycling tool

Permit Sonoma has launched a new construction and demolition recycling platform for tracking construction and demolition waste. This platform will help reduce waste and increase compliance with state environmental goals. Effective May 5, all building and demolition projects in unincorporated Sonoma County are required to use the Green Halo web-based platform to track recycling activities and meet recycling thresholds. State Court of Appeal grants Sonoma County temporary stay as county appeals well ordinance decision

The Court of Appeal for the First District in California today granted Sonoma County its request for a temporary stay in the Russian Riverkeeper & California Coastkeeper vs. County of Sonoma decision issued by a Superior Court judge last fall while the County pursues an appeal of the decision. Judge extends order allowing Sonoma County to issue non-emergency well permits

Permit Sonoma can continue issuing non-emergency well permits until at least March 27. A Sonoma County Superior Court judge recently signed an order to extend a pause on an earlier directive that had temporarily stopped the County from issuing well permits. Read full story

Public invited to review and comment on CalFire wildfire hazard severity maps

The public is invited to review and comment on newly published Fire Hazard Severity maps, which CalFire has updated to show areas of Sonoma County with the greatest wildfire risks. The maps show areas of Sonoma County that have moderate, high, and very high fire hazard severity, defined as having physical conditions that create expected fire behavior over a 50-year period. Sonoma County Fire Districts can recommend changes to the maps during a 120-day adoption period. Local fire districts must adopt these maps per Government Codes 51179 and 51177(e). Read full story
