Technical Advisory Board Announced for OWTS Manual Update

SANTA ROSA, CA | September 25, 2024

Permit Sonoma is seeking septic design professionals and septic contractors/operators/maintenance providers to participate in future updates to Sonoma County’s Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems Regulations and Technical Standards (OWTS Manual). Permit Sonoma will be forming a OWTS Manual Technical Advisory Committee (OWTS Manual TAC) comprised of Permit Sonoma staff and at least one of the following professionals:

  1. One licensed Civil Engineer with experience designing and overseeing the installation of septic systems.
  2. One Registered Environmental Health Specialist with experience designing and overseeing the installation of septic systems.
  3. One licensed septic contractor with experience installing, operating, and/or maintaining septic systems.

All licensure, registration, and contractor types must be valid in California.

The OWTS Manual TAC will initially meet on a monthly basis to establish its structure and priorities.  Non-Permit Sonoma members will be required to work together to evaluate a variety of OWTS Manual existing and potential standards then submit a joint written recommendation to Permit Sonoma for consideration to revise the OWTS Manual.

Anyone interested in participating the OWTS Manual TAC must submit their written request to Alex.Rosas@sonoma-county.org no later than 5:00 PM, October 2, 2024.

Interested parties will be notified whether selected or not to the OWTS Manual TAC.  Depending on the level of interest, Permit Sonoma may establish a reserve pool of professionals to either replace members no longer interested in participating in the OWTS Manual TAC or to participate in sub-committees.
