General Provisions
Permittee Agrees To:
Indemnify, hold harmless and defend the Board of Supervisors of the County of Sonoma, its agents and employees from and all liability actions, claims, damages, costs or expenses including attorney’s fees, costs and expenses of suits which may be asserted by any person or entity, including Permittee, arising out of or in connection with the willful act or negligence of Permittee performing the work associated with this Permit.
This Permit is to be:
Strictly construed and no activity other than that specifically mentioned hereon is authorized hereby. Subject to all the terms, conditions and restrictions attached hereto, permission is hereby granted Permittee to move the described vehicle along the roads shown hereon.
Safety of Other Traffic:
Permittee shall at all times give strict attention to the safety and rights of the traveling public. If “pilot” vehicle is required to on the face of this Permit, said vehicle shall be equipped and operated in accordance with CALTRANS rules and regulations and the Vehicle Code.
Yield Right of Way:
When being passed by vehicles traveling in either direction, no portion of equipment or trailers shall extend beyond the center line of pavement or traveled way.
Protection on Bridges or Narrow Roads:
When crossing bridges or on roads so narrow that it is impossible to comply with paragraph 4, one man shall be posted behind and one man ahead of such equipment to warn and direct traffic.
Parking on Highway:
No parking on highway at night shall be permitted.
No Moving During Heavy Traffic:
Unless specifically stated on the face of this Permit, equipment covered by this Permit shall not be moved over highways on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays.
Overhead Clearance & Care of Overhead Lines:
It is the responsibility of the permittee to check all underpasses, bridges, overhead wires or other structures for impaired vertical clearance and to bypass or arrange clearance at such locations. At least forty-eight (48) hours in advance of such work, the Permittee must notify the owner of all overhead lines subject to disturbance or damage by his operations; and mutually agreeable arrangements shall be made between the parties affected.
Permit Subject to Inspection:
The Permit must be carried on the equipment at all times while it is being moved within the highway limits. It shall be submitted for inspection on demand of an authorized employee of the Sonoma County Road Transportation and Public Works Department or any law enforcement officer.
Repair of Damage:
In accepting this Permit, the Permittee agrees to repair at his own expense and to the satisfaction of the Road Commissioner, any damage to the highway or structures. Work of repair may be done by the Transportation and Public Works Department of the County at the option of the Road Commissioner. The cost is to be borne by the Permittee.
Time Limit:
Unless specifically stated on the face hereof, this Permit is only valid for one trip between the points designated, and shall be accomplished during daylight hours.
Limit of Authorization:
This Permit covers only that portion of move made upon Sonoma County Highways maintained by the Transportation and Public Works Department. Permits for travel on all other highways, roads or streets shall be secured from the respective jurisdiction.
Failure to Comply:
Failure to comply with any of the provisions set forth herein shall void this Permit.
