Types of long-range plans:
- General Plan
The General Plan is a policy document that establishes a vision for the future of Sonoma County. It prioritizes, organizes, and directs development and conservation. General Plan policies are implemented by specific standards and rules that exist within the County’s Zoning Ordinance, Area Plans, and Specific Plans. - Area Plans
An Area Plan is a policy document that supplements the General Plan. It includes goals, policies and programs for a specific community, but unlike a Specific Plan, does not include specific zoning regulations or standards. - Specific Plans
Specific Plans provide more precise development policies related to particular geographic areas.
Proposed Long-Range Plans
These are the proposed long-range plans that are being drafted as new plans or to update existing plans. They are in various stages of progress, and have not yet been approved by the Board of Supervisors.
Adopted Long-Range Plans
These are the long-range plans that have been approved by the Board of Supervisors and are currently in effect.
