Grading Permit Fees

Fee determinations are based on a number of variables.

Grading Permit variables include:

• What is the total cubic yardage, including cuts and fills?
• Will a site review be required?
• Will Well & Septic review and/or clearance be required?
• Will Fire Prevention review and mitigation measures be required?
• Will an encroachment permit be required?
• Will approvals or permits from outside agencies be required?

Drainage considerations that must be addressed include:

• Location of structures (roads, reservoirs, underground utilities, etc.)
• Location and limits of grading
• Location of existing drainage facilities (waterways, conduits, culverts, or bridges)
• Slope stability, erosion potential, and water quality related issues
• Watershed hydrology and related issues
• Flooding and other related drainage characteristics of the area
• Existing wetlands, vernal pools, or riparian corridors
• Proximity of leach field locations

Environmental Health Review variables include:

• What type of permit(s) will be required?
• What type of letter or certification is required?
• Will a septic system or well serve the site?
• Is public sewer and water service available?
• How many lots are proposed?

Due to the complexity of these determinations, it is unwise to make assumptions until the full scope of a project is determined by Permit Sonoma staff at the time an application is accepted.
