Airport Safety Zones
The following six airport safety zones are established around each airport to reflect increasing or decreasing degrees of risk and land use compatibility restrictions:
- Runway Protection Zone (RPZ);
- Inner Approach/Departure Safety Zone (ISZ);
- Inner Turning Zone (ITZ);
- Outer Approach/Departure Safety Zone (OSZ);
- Sideline Safety Zone (SSZ);
- Traffic Pattern Zone (TPZ)
The configuration of safety zones around each airport are shown in Exhibits 8A through 8F. The basis for he safety zone configuration at each airport is discussed in Appendix C where detailed drawings showing the dimensions of the areas at each airport are also provided.
Table 8B describes the proposed safety compatibility standards for the five smaller public use airports in Sonoma County.
