Permit Sonoma announces housing plan Environmental Report Scoping Workshop
SANTA ROSA, CA | June 24, 2022
Permit Sonoma will host a virtual Housing Element Environmental Scoping Workshop on June 28 to solicit feedback on the scope of the proposed environmental review for the County of Sonoma’s new housing plan. The Housing Element Environmental Impact Report will evaluate the impacts of policy proposals that could guide housing construction in Sonoma County for the next eight years, including rezoning sites for additional housing development.
The scoping meeting will be held on Zoom on June 28, 2022, at 6 PM. The scoping meeting will begin with a presentation followed by a question and answer session.
Written comments may also be submitted within 45 days of the date of this notice by 5 PM on July 30 via email to PermitSonoma-Housing@sonoma-county.org or by regular mail to Permit Sonoma, Attn: Eric Gage, 2550 Ventura Avenue, Santa Rosa, California 95403.
The County of Sonoma is updating its housing element as required by state law. Every eight years, the county examines all the policies, market conditions, and other forces that affect housing development and develops plans to guide the construction of enough homes for everyone in the community, regardless of income.
Under California law, the housing element is one of the seven mandated elements of the general plan and must be updated on a set schedule. A housing element, as required by state law, identifies policies and programs that will support the provision of an adequate housing supply for citizens of all income levels.
For questions regarding the Environmental Impact Report or the scoping meeting, please contact Eric Gage at (707) 565-1391 or via email at PermitSonoma-Housing@sonoma-county.org.
