December 8-12 and 15-19, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Published: December 05, 2014
The demolition project detailed in our November 21, 2014 announcement (below) has been delayed by weather conditions. The contractor has advised staff of an anticipated new start date of December 8, 2014. Work requiring road closure would run December 8-12 and 15-19 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. The project would end on December 22. Again, site conditions, weather and mobilization may affect the start and end dates. We will update this information with any changes as staff becomes aware of them.

Permit and Resource Management Department (PRMD) Staff has issued an Emergency Coastal Development Permit at 6015 Highway 1 and a Coastal Development Permit at 6033 Highway 1, Bodega Bay (Gleason’s Beach) for demolition of a house and destruction of a septic system on each lot to avoid further land failure and undermining of adjacent Highway 1. Staff has also issued consequent demolition permits for each lot. The permitted work may require closure of the southbound lane of Highway 1 along the property frontages from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday-Friday. Please refer to the Caltrans Encroachment Permit (below). Although the Encroachment Permit allows night work, the contractor has informed staff his crew will work only during the day.
Staff has been working with the owner, contractor and owner’s representative to determine a start date. On site preparation work is scheduled to begin December 1. Work requiring road closure would run December 1-5 and 8-12 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. The project would end December 15. Site conditions, weather and mobilization may affect the start and end dates. We will keep the team informed of any changes as staff becomes aware of them.
The public and agencies delivering service in the vicinity of the project area should expect delays even with five minute wait limits as detailed in the Encroachment Permit. North- and southbound Highway 1 traffic between Bodega Bay and Jenner will be impacted. Drivers may also seek Coleman Valley Road as an alternative route.
Project Location: 6015 and 6033 Highway 1, Bodega Bay, CA
