SANTA ROSA, CA | November 29, 2023

En español »

Permit Sonoma will host two Comprehensive Cannabis Program Update meetings on December 13 to update the public on key program elements and the mapping of residential enclaves in an effort to improve compatibility between cannabis land uses and the neighborhoods they are located within or near. The first meeting will be in person at the Board of Supervisors Chambers from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The second meeting will be conducted via Zoom from 7 to 8 p.m.

The content will be the same for both meetings and will include a presentation of the mapping parameters, GIS maps and key program elements. The meetings are informational only.

The following documents have been published on the Cannabis Program Update and EIR webpage:

  • Key program elements with draft cannabis land use summary table
  • Rural residential enclaves discussion paper with draft map for each supervisorial district

Spanish interpretation will be available at both the in-person meeting and the Zoom meeting. Registration for the Zoom webinar is available on the Comprehensive Cannabis Program Update webpage.

If approved, the cannabis program update could result in a series of zoning changes that may retain, replace, expand on or eliminate existing provisions of the current cannabis ordinance. The primary goals of the cannabis program update are to consider cannabis land uses within unincorporated areas of the county and further enhance neighborhood compatibility and environmental protections. The analysis could result in proposals to expand, restrict, or eliminate cannabis land uses and streamline the cannabis permitting process.

Written comments may be submitted to Cannabis@sonoma-county.org or by mail to Permit Sonoma, Attn: Cannabis Ordinance Update, 2550 Ventura Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
